This is heavy news, but perhaps not entirely unexpected. We value high standards for quality and communication—ones that we haven’t been able to meet in the last few months. Without going into details, some severe health issues, day job stressors, and other factors across the team have waylaid our ability to release Horizons on the intended schedule, so we’re putting the magazine on hiatus.
Horizons 4 is in progress and we hope to see it through to completion—and continue in some form in the future—but we don’t want to promise any specific release date we might not be able to meet. To that end, we’re refunding pre-existing subscribers for any payment so far in December 2025 (in other words, payments from December 1 to December 8, 2025; our billing setup won’t allow us to issue refunds for prior monthly charges). Pre-existing annual subscribers who have been charged a recurring payment will also be refunded their latest charge.
At the moment, we don’t have a way to pause billing while also maintaining subscriber access to existing content. If you’re a subscriber and you don’t want to be charged for future months, please cancel your subscription for now (make sure to download any existing content you want first!); we’ll notify prior subscribers if we start releasing again.
We’re sad to do this, but it feels like the fairest option for our subscribers and community. We hope you’ll stick around in some form—we’ve been honored by your support and hope to overcome this year’s challenges to deliver once again.
